Save Oromia.
Oromoo Haa Baraarru.
Supporting the struggle for human dignity.
OB Foundation is established to support humanitarian, social activism, and development efforts among the Oromo people of greater Northeast and Horn of Africa. The Foundation will work to uplift Oromos who are suffering the current “hidden war” of aggression and natural disasters such as droughts. It also seeks to raise awareness about the struggles of the Oromo people for preservation of their history, culture, land, and human dignity.
Tens of thousands displaced due to war
Thousands of Oromo civilians have been bearing the brunt of “the hidden war” that’s been unleashed on Oromia for the past 4 years. Innocent men, women, and children are being subjected to indiscriminate drone strikes from Ethiopian armed forces, mass killings by armed militia groups supported by the government, and uprooted and displaced from their land. We at the OB Foundation stand with the Oromo people in their time of need, and will work towards ensuring their safety and return to their homeland as soon as possible.
Thousands starving and millions at risk due to severe drought
Estimated 10 million Oromos are impacted by severe drought that is exacerbated by climate change. Crops have failed. Thousands of cattle have died. As a result, millions of people have no means to feed and sustain themselves and their families. They have become dependent on hard to come by foreign food aid that has especially been limited since the start of war in Ukraine. They need immediate food and shelter assistance for survival.
Oromos rising to demand a right to live peacefully
Oromo people are demanding that their right to live on their land be respected. They are uniting to resist oppressive forces that deny them human dignity. They are standing up to say we have a right to live peacefully. In response, the Ethiopian government is jailing and brutalizing brave college students who are leading the protest movement. The Foundation seeks to raise awareness about their plight and bravely in the face of brutality.
Supporting projects to re-build Oromia in education, healthcare, and agriculture
Despite suffering under brutal military occupation and natural disasters, the Oromo nation of 50 million plus is striving to build a better future. The OB Foundation is committed to not only address acute humanitarian needs but to also support efforts to rebuild Oromia for future generations. Initially, we will focus on projects and initiatives that will work towards expanding access to quality education, basic healthcare services, particularly focused on fetal and maternal health, and modernizing farming.
“If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without demand. It never did and it never will...”
